Active duty gets priority... They may have so many active duty patients (or even dependents) that they can't add one more person and meet needs for people who have issues randomly show up while there.
You can appeal. There was someone else I've read of who just appealed for depression and got approved... I'm not sure of the whole process but I know it was very involved. You would have to possibly prove you don't need the endo at all, which sounds like isn't possible most likely. |

Yeah, I am preparing myself for that. But all the words we got were not recomended for ovrseas, so it is not a total shut out. I just need to know what all I need and can do to help win the appeal as best as possible.

If it says you weren't recommended they're pretty much denying you. Start calling and find out the process to appeal. You'll need letters and as much documentation as possible that shows you don't really need help from the base OR that there is somewhere you can get the care you need that takes Tricare.

But just to explain, even if you are willing to transport yourself or see a doctor less often, the military is required to cover transport and doctors as often as you need them to, to that is where they are coming from. Also, the fact that your diabetes is under control now doesn't mean it will stay that way (from their perspective). It's a condition that increases the likelihood of you needing more care more often, and that's what they take into account. I'm not saying that it is hopeless and that you shouldn't try; I'm just trying to explain how they see it so that maybe it makes more sense to you. |

We were going to appeal if I got denied here in Alaska. It's a process but can be worth it. The main thing will be the doctors who take tricare off base. I know that was the issue here in Alaska with the specialist I need. Good luck with everything. Also, make sure whatever med you're on currently are on the MTF formulary at the pharmacy.
