Default Aggravated w/ Doberman911

I have to surrender my dogs. I want to get my own apartment and they can't go; Risby is a breed restriction and Amber is over weight limits plus it would be cruel to keep something her size in an apartment.

I refuse to take them to the SPCA. I will not worry that they have become pit bull bait or that someone took Amber not understanding that giant breeds demand special care.

I found a rescue for Risby called Doberman 911. They specialize in dobies with special needs. Risby is over 7 years old and has allergies that require periodic vet visits for meds so she qualifies as special needs. I explained to the dumb woman that I am a newly divorced single mom, I am trying to move, and Risby's meds & vet visits are becoming expensive, or at least more than a single mom can cover. She emails me back asking some.questions and one was how she does with cats. I replied that Risby doesn't do well with anything smaller than herself. Dumb woman emails me back and asks what about cats? Ummm... 66 lb dog. You got a cat that big, it needs to be behind barbed wire at the zoo! Then ding dong proceeds to tell me there are no donor rescues in my area so I must drive her out of state, board her temporarily ( with no idea how long temporary IS) and help pay for her care. I just told this dingbat one of the reasons I am letting Ris go is money. I'm in SE Virginia. I can't drive her to another state and pay for her to be boarded!!!! Dingbat then has the audacity to ask me what I expected? If i can find a good rescue for my Doberman in my area then i should let her know. I told her that what I did NOT expect was her snippy responses. What I DID expect? Idk, more than I got from an agency that specializes in Dobies w/ special needs.

Don't discount rescues out of state. Most will set up transport to get them to forever homes or places out of state, I drive dogs ALL the time all over my state for rescues and even out of state depending. Someone I know just got a Dobie rescue from a shelter in IA to Wyoming and volunteers set up a transport train to get it here.

How old is Amber? We lost our Dobe a few months back and have been contemplating when the right time is to get a new dog. It broke DH's heart when we lost Ivan, so he would never agree to an older dog right now. Maybe we can help you out? Either way I'll be hoping for the best for your babies.

Amber is my Great Pyrenees. Risby is my Dobie. She is 7 1/2 years old and has allergies that require an occasional vet visit.

thank you Pammy. Make sure to mention the allergies and occasional vet visits. I don't want to surprise & piss anyone off. Rizbert is my baby and this is breaking my heart but I know it's right for her.
