Default TAPS classes??

so DH is getting out from the navy. He's going to Taps classes next week, he says I should go with him. Is it okay for me to go with him or am I just wasting my time? Did any of you ladies go when your DH got out?

you absolutely should go and he should go more than once if he has time- they cram so much info into it that it is hard to get everything down the first time.

ok thanks I just wasn't sure if it was for spouses too or if he just wanted me to go because he didn't want to be bored lol. Is it true they have to dress business casual everyday for the classes?

I went to hubby's. We went 3 weeks ago. I highly recommend that spouses go. In fact, it is encouraged by the service and the agency giving it that spouses go. You learn so much and you are able to get answers to questions you may have as the class progresses. It will also help you if you are looking into getting back to work, if it's something you're interested in. Another class I would recommend you go to is the Benfits class, it was a separate class for us eventhough it was discussed briefly in TAP. Yes, business casual everyday.

I didn't go. I hear they are good, but DH got a lot of incorrect advice at his, in fact it was really bad but thankfully we spoke with someone else and got that problem fixed, for us. For him, it wasn't as useful as he already had planned what he was doing, and was accepted. They do give a lot of help and advice when looking for work; something we didn't need. Also local area stuff, which we did not need. I think overall it is still good, esp if you haven't been around the military for long, or if you don't have a lot of knowledge on the transistion.

I went and I know it helped us out a lot! Dh was already stressed with all the things he had to do it made it easier on him knowing I had the moving situation, housing situation, financial situation etc handled. They go over so much with you though we ended up going twice.
