Default Ruth's Chris Steakhouse

Has anyone ever eaten there? Any recommendations? I had never even heard of it until we moved to CA. We're going there tonight for our anniversary dinner. It's also our first date night since DS was born.

I have, but wasn't a huge fan - there are just too many other steakhouses out there that are better. That being said, the filet is pretty good and so was the sweet potato casserole!

I started drooling reading the title. My ex did some plumbing work at one in DC years ago and they gave him some free steaks to bring home.... OMG they were awesome. My best friend had a small wedding and held her reception there too. I really liked both my experiences with them.

We've been there twice. Once in Irvine and once in San Diego. The reason I say that is because the quality of the same petit filet was so much different in two locations that I felt sorta ripped off the second time around (in SD). It might have been a fluke since DH's porterhouse was perfectly cooked.

Robbie and I went there a few anni's ago and felt that it was nothing special. We like Nicos, Donovans and LG's better. They did have a shrimp appetizer that was verry good though.

However the wait staff were great and the view was amazing. Though oddly enough someone left a box of wine (full and unopened) on the patio entrance!

Me and my DH loved it! We went just to have a celebration day of "us" and the food was really delicious! I had a sirloin and it was heaven on a plate, dh had this filet mignon wrapped in bacon and it was really delcious! we also had the parmesean mashed taters and this spinach stuff which was yummy. I can't remember what we had as an appetizer, it's been so long ago. And their wine called "murphy's law" is really good! And I don't even care much for white wine!

the one we went to in vb was delish, but i had never gone in cali. i am sure like any other restaurant, the quality and service, etc varies by location.... we used to enjoy black angus when we lived in cali... and outback.

I've been to mom and pop places with good steak, but I've heard good things about Ruth's Chris's wine list...

Anyone been to an Eddie Merlot's? $$$, but wonderful... my only complaint is the lighting is too dim for reading. (I judge all non-fast-food restaurants by how reading-friendly they are. )

Yeah a few times in various cities. It's ok for a steak house. I only go because it's where others want to go but it isn't my first choice when it comes to premium steak houses.

We had a great night! I ordered the petite filet and shrimp although I shouldn't have ordered my steak medium. It wasn't cooked enough for me but that was my fault. I definitely ate it though! I had a cesar salad before my dinner and it was excellent, probably my favorite part.

Been to two The Virginia beach was AMAZING! Then we ate at one in Sarasota, Fl and it was just ok not as good as VB. But I agree there are other high end steak places that are good

Glad you had a great time! And I had their Filet and shrimp last time yummy!!

Ah now see....I am one who thinks that if you cook a good steak beyond medium rare you've already ruined it. Good steak should be as bloody as possible.

Glad you had a great evening though!

I love medium rare steaks, but my doc told me while pregnant that I should do fully cooked steak. The last time we went to a steak house, I had to have my steak cooked to well done, and they brought it to me Med Rare, and it was so hard for me to have that sent back to have it cooked more. My dh told me he'd be willing not to eat a med rare steak too, but I don't want him to have to give up a good juicy steak.

I am glad you liked it though, and that y'all had a good time!
