Default Need some moving and Transition advice!

So we just moved across the country with our two cats (one is a Siamese who is giving us most of the problems) and one dog.

This is our first move with the animals, plus a bigger town than what we were in..my question is how can I make the transition better for the animals? My Siamese always is trying to run away from us in vehicles and being very stressed when we get to the hotels.

Any advice would help! Thanks!

We just did an 18 hour drive to move from Texas to south Carolina. With a dog and two cats.

First talk to,your,vet lol

I put my cats,in a big dog kennel with a blanket, a litter box and some water and food.

Both,of mine have car anxiety. I got catnip and feliway to help them, calm in the kennel and my doc suggested Benadryl since they are bad with driving. But dont give them any meds without talking tp your Vet first.

One of them was fine with the, spray, and catnip so I didnt bother giving it to him but the other had to have it.

I sprayed the kennel at every stop and gave then catnip. I started once we got firnitire out to keep, the stress level down. We did the trip with a total of 2 days plus 5 days of hotel.

It def helped and despite my fears the trip was awesome.

I never would take out the cat out of the kennel unless you are in a room they are scared and this will be there first action run away.

You can spray the hotel witg the pheromones too to help them.

Well I will try and get a hold of the vet back at our old base, we were actually hoping to just find one here (we just got in, so thankfully NO more traveling except to get into a house from the hotel).

Where can you find those sprays? Like petco? My one cat loves catnip but he isn't the one I am worried about, my other cat does not like it so maybe she would be okay with the spray.

As far as the kennel goes, we actually had 2 smaller carriers (we never really used them in general) but one broke as we were finalizing everything and money was tight so we couldn't get another. But anyways, long story short,
we only had the one carrier for both cats and so we ended up letting the cats run around the U-Haul, no issues there..only time it became an issue is when it was time to stop for the night, the cat would try and bolt (sometimes even when they saw birds or whatever).

Anyways thanks for the tips! I hope the base can get us our house pretty quick so we can get back to normal! I know I'm ready!

DH drove from Nor California to LAs Vegas (about 12 hours drive) with our dog and cat. Our cat hates to be in a crate, so he made her a bed right next to him and she enjoyed the right. We put her on cat harness, just in case.
Plan enough stops for the pets. DH stopped almost every 2 hours to walk our dog and to get fresh air. I would also get some addresses of hotels that accept pets along the way, just in case you need to take a break earlier then planned.
Both of our pets did great. As soon as they got to our hotel, I set up the litter box and made sure that our cats knows where it is. Our dog was extremely tired, some slept the whole day afterwords.
Good luck! It will go smoothly!
