He's never touched the toilet paper.

If you have a spare bathroom, you could take the tp out and see if that will keep him from being tempted. He's front declawed and only plays with the toys we bought him.

Well, it's Friday, so we are moving to the next step! We have moved to the next insert which has a hole in the center so some of his "leavings" go into the toilet itself. I can't tell you how much I hope it ALL goes into the toilet. These inserts aren't easy to clean. Every week I have to take the hose to them bc I don't want the litter in my drains. I'm a little worried about the toilet having litter in it though, I know some is going to get in there, but I'm hoping that if I flush a couple times a day that it won't be a problem.

Oh, one of the pics is not of the litter kwitter, but rather the cat washing the dog's face. I just thought it was cute

lol see that would never work for my cat because he drinks toilet water lol I can have just got him fresh water and he will go drink out of the toilet. I cant use the cholrox tablets because of him drinking my toilet water.

I had a cat growing up that did that. We have a water thing that the cat and dog both share and they use it instead of the toilet. It might work bc no cat would drink dirty water.

He used the hole in the kit! I know it bc there was a lot of litter in the bowl

The system seems to flush like normal, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to plunger it soon just to be sure. When I say a lot I mean like 1/4 cup of litter... But if it's like that every time I flush

My luck would be they wouldn't sit over it right and it would get all over the toilet.

At the store they might have some more bio-degradeable litter so it wont be so hard on your septic system ??

I'm going to have to check that out.... bc this litter thing is scary, I'm just wondering what he'll do if I change his litter for the first time EVER. We've always used the same kind. I recommend to anyone that tries this to start off with that kind of litter though.

He pooped on the carpet in the bathroom...

He had played in the litter (found more in the toilet) but then found his poop on the carpet. I cleaned it up, and put it in the toilet. Then, I showed it to him. He stuck his head into the toilet and looked at it. I'm not flushing it down bc I hope he realizes that it supposed to be in there. I'll let you know what he does next. Let's

that he learns his lesson and poos in the toilet.

They make newspaper litter...I believe it is called Yesterday's News? We used it when Atty and Hype were both declawed. It might be better for your septic system

Dh said we have the city sewer, not a septic system. Does that make it any better?

He's pooping in the toilet/kit. He pees into the hole, but he poops on the litter but some of it makes it into the hole. I think he's finally getting this step. I did take the rug that he was pooing on away. I think I'll put it back down after he uses the hole regularly. It's looking like I'm not going to change anything this Friday like I normally do.

Weekly update:

As I mentioned, I'm not going to move to the next step this week. I did give him the carpet back and cleaned the bathroom and added some litter back to the kit. He is now pooing in the hole (or on the litter and then pushing into the hole, I can't tell). If he does well this coming week, then I'll move onto the next insert which has a bigger hole.
